Primary Purpose:      

Ensure the efficient operation of the department and provide clerical support to department staff and effectively communicating with external community partners.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency); &
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in general office management, and procedures.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must have high level of integrity regarding department records.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team to provide assistance to department staff.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with limited supervision.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Office Climate

1)     Assist staff as needed.

2)     Greet visitors with professionalism and courtesy.

3)     Maintain and assist with operation of office equipment/machines as needed.

 

 

 

Communication and Phones

1)     Schedule meetings and appointments for administrative staff.

Records and Reports

1)     Perform general office procedures including typing, filing, mail, duplication of materials, data processing, editing and general bookkeeping/recordkeeping.

2)     Assist with processing and dissemination of department reports, documents, as directed by administrator.

3)     Maintain general office files: save/store required documents per policy and administrative procedures.

4)     Initiate, update and close out work orders using a computerized work order system.

1)     Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations, including daily attendance, punctuality and confidentiality.

2)     Participate in district and campus staff development programs that improve job related skills.

3)     Use effective communication skills with district personnel.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes, humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration, biological hazards, working on uneven surfaces, working alone, working prolonged or irregular hours.
